Buyer's Guide
Parts Discounts
FARG currently offers 5% discount on all manufacturers (0% if ordered VOR). Not everyone offers a discount on parts. Discount on parts clearly has an effect on overall cost.

Cost control
Many companies still offer an 'in house' team of specialist engineers who will "control" your repair cost. FARG does not consider this to be the most cost effective way of controlling costs as ultimately those engineers have a vested interest in maintaining a high repair figure given that their income is in direct relation to the overall repair cost!
All FARG clients use independent engineers either appointed by themselves or their insurance company to ensure repair costs are independently controlled.

Repairer Selection Criteria
Many companies select their repairers based on the size of commission they will pay rather than the quality of repair. Enough said.

Hidden Incomes
|
These are the many areas in which other companies generate additional revenue from your business:
- Repairs 12%+ of VAT inclusive invoice plus an annual fee of approx £1000.00 to be an approved repairer
- Car Rental significant mark up on their own 'buy in' rate
- Glass retrospective credit notes are common
- Engineers commission of engineers fee when physical inspection required (own in house engineers unable to provide service)
- Salvage commission from salvage agents is commonplace
- ULR 10% - 15% of sum recovered is commonplace
- Over and above all that, many companies also expect to charge an amount either per incident or a fixed price per vehicle per month!
| Downtime Measurement
FARG measures vehicle downtime simply by calculating the number of actual days that the vehicle is off the road. Many companies who quote "low" downtime figures do not account for weekends and Bank Holidays etc. Unlike FARG, they also treat the delivery and collection days as half days.
